Episode 1: Inspired by Atlanta Artist Miles Davis

For our first episode, we are excited to welcome award-winning visual artist, illustrator, author and muralist Miles Davis of Atlanta-based Massive Burn Studios. His artwork has been embraced and celebrated for its blending of spirituality and science, exploring those complexities and their relationship to personal and cultural identity with visionary, dreamlike symbolism in a neosurrealist style. Along with exhibiting his work, Miles teaches art classes and lessons to children and adults, serves as Director at Large for the South Cobb Arts Alliance and is creator of the children’s book series Butterpup & friends.

Miles gives us a candid look at how his drive to be creative began from a young age and how it continued to propel him as he navigated the ups, downs and discipline of adapting that creativity into a successful professional career. Miles shares with us some of the emotional and mental health impacts of seeking connection in his work deeply exploring the human experience, as well as his thoughts on developing mental toughness alongside an empathetic nature. We also hear his thoughts on how AI is disrupting the creative world and the fine line between using it as tool to amplify creativity and allowing it to diminish creativity in favor of speed and mass production.
