Each episode of the “Inspired By” podcast, we welcome a guest creative and learn more about their unique story, how they work, what inspires them and more. This episode, we’re excited to welcome musician Matthew Schwartz, lead of independent band Pacifico.

Matthew gives us an inside look at his creative process, both working independently and in collaboration with other artists, and talks more about how Pacifico evolved from a traditional band into a revolving collaboration with established and roaming musicians – creating new opportunities to work with a variety of musicians, writers and poets. He also offers his insights from 25 years in the music business from what it takes to get signed with a label to going independent, how streaming has shifted the the foundations for artists, and how both the viability and expectations around live music performance have changed over time.

Matthew also talks candidly about creating wellness and happiness in both your professional and personal life and the transformative power he found in taking an intentional approach to cultivating his own. It’s a journey that, among other things, led him to taking on his longtime goal of enrolling in improv classes where he took away life lessons that he’s found apply far beyond the stage.
