Diane is a pop artist with an engineering background known for her stunning mixed media pieces focused on the subjects of introspection and personal growth. The astronaut is an overarching character in her work – a modern day explorer which she deftly employs as a metaphor for exploring one’s self. When you see the scale and complexity of Diane’s work, you might find it hard to believe that she does it all while travelling the United States living the van life full time and using a towed trailer as her mobile studio, supplies storage and work space.
Diane gives us an inside look at how her diverse background – first in farm and ranch management then in the study of aerospace engineering – eventually led her into the art world and shares her insights on what it takes to find your niche and gain traction as a professional visual artist.
She also talks candidly about how a need for balance led her to life on the road and how it has impacted not only her art but her own health and wellness both mentally and physically, as well as her love for hiking and climbing in the natural world and how it shows up in her art.
